Internships & Volunteering

Centre for Advanced Research in Management and Applied Ethics (CARMAE) has one internship program for Romanian graduate students aiming to develop their basic and more advanced professional skills. The program takes 3 months and involves a variety of activities, from basic research to organizing an academic event, from preparing a background paper on a specific case study to writing the case study itself. The internship is based on an individual agreement, signed by the student and the CARMAE representatives.

CARMAE also has an internship program for undergraduate students, but this depends on the agreements signed between our organisations and various academic institutions. Each year, our Centre accepts a maximum of 10 students from different universities and specializations. The internship takes around 4 weeks and the student receives a document stating his performance during the internship. This assessment is the base for his/her academic evaluation as part of the mandatory student practice.

The Centre also holds a volunteering program for people with professional background in various research fields and present a real interest in Strategic Management or Applied Ethics. The volunteering work is based on a special agreement with the volunteer and the document is signed regularly for one year, but can be extended. The volunteers perform specific tasks and have a determined place in our organisation.

The volunteers and the graduate interns will benefit from a Professional Orientation Program (POP) that requires participation in at least 2 training sessions especially designed for our new colleagues and in two quantitative research activities. During the POP, the intern or volunteer will work with an assigned coordinator. The role of the POP is to familiarize the volunteer/intern with our activities, to help him understand the way we work, and help them develop his/her basic research skills and analytic abilities. The POP is completed when the coordinator issues his/her assessment over the volunteer/intern’s performance.

Depending on the POP final assessment, we will provide the volunteer/intern with an academic/professional career plan and letters of reference. The role of this is to help the volunteer or intern take the opportunity to develop an academic or professional career in Strategic Management or Applied Ethics.

Given the fact that we, as organisation, are self-funded, all our internships are not paid. Still, we consider that the non-financial benefits are higher than any financial benefit you might get somewhere else: from training programs and letters of reference to professional networking and contributions to various publications we prepare.
